A Small Milestone, A Big Thank You. My 15th Photography Course at Forty Hall Estate

On Saturday 28 February, I’ll be teaching my 15th photography course at Forty Hall Estate.

That number matters to me, not because it is flashy, but because each course represents a room full of people who showed up curious, slightly unsure, and willing to learn something new. It represents conversations, questions, lightbulb moments, and that look people get when they finally understand what their camera has been trying to tell them all along.

When I taught my very first session here, I remember wondering if I would be able to explain things clearly enough. Would aperture make sense. Would shutter speed click. Would people leave feeling more confident than when they arrived.

Fifteen courses later, I know the answer.

Why I Keep Teaching This Course

Most people come to photography because something caught their eye. A moment. A person. A feeling. But somewhere along the way, technical confusion gets in the way. Buttons feel intimidating. Settings feel abstract. The camera becomes something you fight instead of something you work with.

This course exists to remove that barrier.

Introduction to Photography: Exploring Camera Modes and Settings is about giving you clarity. Not jargon. Not overwhelm. Just a calm, practical understanding of how your camera works, and how to use it intentionally.

We take things step by step. We ask real questions. We slow down. Because learning sticks best when you feel relaxed, capable, and supported.

What You Can Expect on the Day

You will learn:

  • How exposure actually works in the real world

  • What aperture, shutter speed, and ISO really do, not just what the manual says

  • How different camera modes change the way your photos look and feel

More importantly, you will leave knowing why you are choosing a setting, not just copying one.

That shift from guessing to choosing is where confidence begins.

Who This Course Is For

This session is for you if:

  • You have been relying on auto mode and want to understand your camera properly

  • You feel like you almost get it, but something is missing

  • You want to take photos that feel deliberate and personal

No pressure. No comparison. Just learning, practice, and space to ask the questions you have been holding back.

A Personal Thank You

Reaching my 15th course here feels quietly meaningful. It is a reminder that teaching is not about perfection, it is about connection. About meeting people where they are and helping them move forward.

If you decide to join me on 28 February, I would love to be part of your photography journey, whether it is just beginning or finding its next chapter.
